Instructions after Pterygium Surgery

You will be seen the day following surgery for a check up at the Kitchener Pde rooms.

What happens after the Operation?

You will go home with a pad over the operated eye and a prescription for some eye drops. When you return the next day for your appointment you will need to bring the drops with you. The doctor’s assistant will then remove the pad and clean the area around the eye with saline and show you how to use the eye drops.

The eye may feel quite sore for the first few days after surgery, and pain tablets may be taken to relieve the pain.

We recommend that you bring a pair of sunglasses to your next day appointment.

How long will I be off work or normal activities?

The eye will remain sore and red for a few weeks and it is advisable to plan time off work for this period. This is especially important if you work outdoors or in dry, windy or dusty conditions.
